Who we are

About Us

The Rock Solid Foundation (TRSF) is a nonprofit charitable organization that was founded in late 2024 to honor the life and legacy of Jesse Melvin Haugen, who passed away in a tragic canoeing accident on May 18, 2024. Jesse was rock solid in his passion for and dedication to the many roles he played - a family man, outdoorsman, veteran, entrepreneur and servant. He overcame life's hardest moments and pushed through pain with determination, perseverance and humility. His example is the backbone of The Foundation.

Our Mission

TRSF’s mission is to provide resources and support to those in their darkest hour. We offer individuals, families and organizations facing tragic loss a place to turn and find help to rebuild, a light in the darkness. With Jesse's spirit of kindness, generosity and hard work as our inspiration, TRSF is committed to turning tragedy into triumph and helping communities rise together, stronger than before.

How We Do It

TRSF raises funds through donations and athletic events that bring communities together and challenge participants to push themselves physically, as Jesse loved to do. The Foundation organizes an annual Rock Solid Marathon (and half marathon and 5K) the first Saturday in March, as well as an annual Rock Solid 5K and 1-miler Fun Run the third Saturday in May. We plan to grow our series of fundraising events over time.

TRSF uses funds to provide financial support to applicants in need, usually caused by an unexpected tragedy such as an accident. The Foundation’s board reviews and approves grants to applicants in keeping with our mission. All funds available after we pay The Foundation’s expenses are directed to our charitable mission. TRSF has no employees and our board serves on a volunteer basis.
